Ready for the ultimate relaxation day?
Sometimes, when I’m on the loop of my daily life tasks, I forget that taking time to relax is important for my mind and my health. I’ve learnt that, in the rush of the modern world, it’s something that I need to do consciously, and I know I’m not the only one. Today, for World Relaxation Day, I thought I’d create a little guide that is applicable wherever you are in Spain. Remember, you don’t need big luxuries to relax; you simply need to put your mind into it and gift it to yourself. I hope that these suggestions will be useful to you. I’ll probably take advantage of them myself! Let’s go!
Start off without your phone
Kick off your day being present, without any distractions, and yes, I mean without your phone, so make sure to leave it at home. Find a terrace or a cozy little café, grab a seat, and soak in the morning sun. Order something you really enjoy. I suggest a tostada with jamón serrano, tomate, and aceite de oliva.
Spa, thermal bath or hammam appointment
Book yourself a massage or head to a spa or hammam. Thermal circuits are also a great way to relax and recharge. The best part? These experiences are usually super affordable, especially if you hit up your local sports club or smaller spas!

If you’re looking for iconic balnearios, and if you’re nearby these areas, you could try:
- Balneario de Archena in Murcia
- Balneario de Mondariz in Pontevedra
- Balneario de Alhama de Aragón in Zaragoza
Time for a slow, long lunch

Find a sunny terrace or a chiringuito and take your time. Order some fresh fish, a seasonal salad, or tapas to share. Don’t miss classics like rabas, salmorejo, or tortilla de patata.
Now, hora de la siesta or walk the food off!
After lunch, get some fresh air with a relaxed walk to help your food settle. If you’re near the coast, I recommend a fresh dip in the sea, followed by a siesta in the shadow. Here are some favorite spots:
- Paseo marítimo in Cádiz, San Sebastián, or Valencia
- Parque del Retiro in Madrid
- Parque de María Luisa in Sevilla
Sunset and wine
To finish the day right, grab a glass of wine or a fresh drink and find a spot to watch the sunset. Anything will do the job, whether it’s a rooftop bar in Madrid, a beachfront terrace in Barcelona, or a scenic mirador!
Spain is the perfect place to relax
I hope this simple little guide helps you turn any regular day into a mini-holiday, a chance to slow down and recharge. I’ll keep these ideas in mind for when I need a break. Taking time to relax is important, and sometimes small changes make a big difference for sure. Wishing you a happy and restful World Relaxation Day! See you in our next post!
