Here’s everything that’s happening during the month of September in Spain!
September in Spain is, without a doubt, one of my favorite months. After a hot and mostly empty August, everything slowly starts to wake up again. The terraces fill up, kids get ready to go back to school, the temperatures ease off, and people return from their vacations. It’s that magical moment when the cities come alive and everything feels like it’s starting over. And of course, at Gloading, we’re no different. Something exciting also begins this month. Are we going to tell you what it is already? Not yet. For now, you’ll have to wait a little. In the meantime, here’s a look at everything happening in September in Spain.
La vuelta a España (August 23- September 14)
La Vuelta a España is one of cycling’s big three, along with the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. The 2025 edition is shaping up to be intense, with 21 stages covering 3151 kilometers. It includes everything: flat sprints, rolling hills, and brutal mountain climbs that often decide who takes the overall win.

Riders are not just racing for the red jersey, which goes to the overall leader. There are also jerseys for the best sprinter, the best climber, and the top young rider. Each stage has its own challenges, whether it is a fast dash through the flats or a punishing climb in the mountains. What really makes the Vuelta special is the scenery and the fans. Crowds line the roads, cheering the riders on, and it’s intense and emotional. You can watch last year’s edition here.
Fiestas de la Vendimia (throughout the month)
These celebrations usually happen this month and really bring towns and villages across Spain to life. Spain is a true wine powerhouse, with the largest vineyard area in the world and ranking third in production, just behind France and Italy. But these festivals are about much more than just wine and grape-stomping.
They are full-on parties, with music, dancing, and plenty of local food. People of all ages join in the fun, taking part in tasting sessions, playful competitions, and traditions that have been around for generations. It’s a chance to experience Spanish culture up close, where wine isn’t just a drink but a way of life, and the festivals are all about community, celebration, and having a great time.

Some of these fiestas are taken place in:
- Jerez (August 30-September 14)
- Ribera de Duero (September 28-October 4)
- Cariñera (September 26-September 28)
And many other places!
Music and festivals
Granada Sound (Granada, September 12-13)
Granada Sound is one of Spain’s top indie music festivals, taking place every September at the beautiful Cortijo del Conde in Granada. The 2025 edition is set for September 12th and 13th, promising two days packed with music, energy, and good vibes.
The lineup features some of Spain’s most popular indie and alternative artists, including Zahara, Xoel López, Miss Caffeina, Viva Suecia, Ojete Calor, Dorian, Besmaya, Veintiuno, Siloé, and many more.
Granada Sound is a festival where fans can discover new artists, enjoy their favorites, and soak up the unique vibe that makes this one of Spain’s must-visit music events each year.
Vibra Mahou Fest (Segovia, September 13)
If you’re looking for a fun music festival in Spain this September, definitely check out Vibra Mahou Fest in Segovia. It brings some of the hottest names in the Spanish music scene right now, like Anabel Lee, Sexy Zebras, or Marlena. There is a second edition happening in November!

Seasonal produce
In September, Spain’s pantry is at its best, as summer fades into autumn. Sweet fruits like pomegranates, figs, grapes, and peaches are in full swing, alongside freshly picked apples and pears. The fields bring ripe tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers, eggplants, and spinach, while the sea offers sardines, bream, and clams at their peak. By the end of the month, the first mushrooms appear, signaling the arrival of autumn flavors. Altogether, September is the perfect time to enjoy fresh, varied, and truly seasonal food!
How I wish September in Spain lasted even more!
In short, September in Spain has it all: fresh, seasonal produce, concerts that bring the streets to life, and events that fill the cities with energy. It’s the moment when the country gets back into its rhythm after the summer, blending tradition, culture, and fun! September is definitely the perfect month to experience Spain to the fullest. And remember, exciting things are happening at Gloading this month too, so keep an eye out for what we’ve got planned! See you next month!
